Figures in parentheses represent SD. K-BIT = Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test [Kaufman and Kaufman, 1990]; SES = socioeconomic status. SES was determined by the creation of a trichotomous index based on 3 variables: child participation in a free or reduced-price lunch program at school, the highest level of education obtained by the child's mother and father, and the number of parents who worked full-time [Birnbaum et al., 2002].
