Chemotaxis wild type and mutant P. putida KT2440R toward casamino acids (A) and malate (B). Shown are plate gradient assays. 10-μl aliquots of a 10% (w/v) of casamino acids (A) or 10 mm malate (B) were placed on the vertical line in the middle of the plate. Plates were incubated at 4 °C for 12–16 h for the generation of a concentration gradient. Two-microliter aliquots of bacterial suspension were then placed on both sides of the central vertical line. Images were taken after incubation at 30 °C for 16–20 h. Shown are duplicate experiments.
