Mitochondrial O₂ ^∙− production in promastigote forms of Leishmania amazonensis treated with C4 for up to 3 h. Mitochondrial O₂ ^∙− production was evaluated using the fluorescent probe MitoSOX. At the indicated times, promastigotes were used to measure oxidized MitoSOX (oxMitoSOX). The results are expressed in arbitrary units (mean ± SE of at least three independent experiments). *P ≤ 0.05, significant difference compared with the control group (i.e., untreated cells; two-way analysis of variance followed by Tukey post hoc test).
