Detection of LOX in skin biopsy specimens from patients with cutaneous S. aureus infections. Human skin biopsy specimens of healthy tissue and of abscesses due to S. aureus were formalin fixed and paraffin embedded. Sections were analyzed by H&E staining and by LOX-IHC. Strong LOX signals were detectable in all S. aureus-infected human tissue in the area of abscess formation, whereas no signals appeared in healthy tissue from the same patients or in healthy control samples (n, 3 per group).
