Estimated phylogenies for a subset of eight mutually distant globins (pairwise sequence identity 12–43%). The sequence–structure model still closely matches the established NCBI taxonomy, whereas MAFFT begins to exhibit significant differences. Additionally, the MAFFT phylogeny has become more sensitive to parameter choice, whereas the sequence–structure model estimates appropriate parameters from the data.
