Claudin-3 was mislocalized in H1-retinal pigment epithelium maintained in knockout serum replacement medium. Confocal images were obtained in the xy, xz, and yz planes. The xy plane includes the tight junctions (revealed by occludin). The apical membrane faces the top (xz) or right (yz). 4′,6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole-labeled nuclei appear blue in the merged image.
