Upregulation of RAGE mediates the exacerbated Aβ-AGE toxicity in hippocampal neurons. (ac) The hippocampal neurons cultured 8 DIV were treated with Aβ or Aβ-AGE for 24 h, then the level of RAGE was analyzed by western blot and immunofluorescence staining. (di) The hippocampal neurons cultured 8 DIV were pre-incubated with or without RAGE antibody (Ab) before treatment of Aβ or Aβ-AGE for 24 h, then the viability (d), the apoptotic rate (e), levels of the phosphorylated tau (f and g), and synaptic proteins (h, i) were measured.
