(A) Ovitrap lined with filter paper. Small amounts of hay (0.2 g) and larval food (3 mg) were placed in the water. (B) Polyethylene net (50 cm×50 cm×50 cm, with a mesh size of 75 holes/square inch, equivalent to Olyset® Net [Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan]) was placed in the microcosms. Note the 5 artificially torn holes (diameter 5 cm) on each panel. A restrained mouse was placed under the net, and the number of females landing for blood feeding was counted.
