Variance in the position of bumps as it depends on asymmetric reciprocal connectivity (κ1 ≠ κ2) when noise in each area is independent and identical (c1 = c2 = 1). Fixing κ2 = 0.02 and varying κ1, we find (A) the variance 〈Δ1(t)2 of bump 1 decreases as coupling from area 2 to 1 (κ1) increases; (B) variance 〈Δ2(t)2〉 of bump 2 remain relatively unchanged.
