Databases for unscheduled outpatient visit, hospital admission, and mortality were obtained from different administrative regions of Beijing, China, as illustrated in Fig. 1.
Unscheduled outpatient visits were obtained from billing claims of a healthcare insurance program covering ~61,000 individuals in Haidian District, Beijing.
Hospital admissions were obtained from hospital discharge forms collected from all major hospitals in Beijing, excluding military-operated hospitals.
