For this experiment we limited our analysis to GSCs juxtaposed to hub cells, because GSCs located away from the hub do not have a spatial reference point for assessment of the sister chromatid segregation pattern. Differentiation was induced by heat shock treatment of hs-Bam flies followed by a 5-day recovery period29.
