STEP 1	Generate subgroups from truncated Poisson distribu- tion.We start by performing a single draw from a Poisson distribution with mean (ni · dgi/α), where ni is the size of the egonet i, dgi is the degree of group g and egonet i, and α is a tuning parameter7. We redraw from the Poisson distribution if the draw is larger than ni. The means used for this analysis may be found in Table 3.
STEP 2	Random assignment for groups.We then assign group labels based on the Poisson draws from STEP 1 through a simple random assignment procedure.
