HERV-K1-6 and HERV-H1-3 numbering is according to de Parseval et al. [20]; the three envH1-3 and the six envK1-6 were each analysed with one primer pair. EnvE has a stop codon after 428 amino acids (aa) and envW2 has a stop codon after 38 amino acids or 117 bp. {ERV}= according to nomenclature of Mayer et al. [69]
