Freeze-fracture analysis of the complexity and morphology of tight junction strands. Freeze-fracture replicas were prepared from cultured brain endothelial cells after PG or HG treatment. In all replicas tested, the tight junction strands were highly associated with the external fracture face (EF), only few particles were observed at the protoplasmic face (PF).
