Dietary AhR agonists can modulate NK cell activity. (A) NK92-MI NK cell line was stably transfected with a luciferase reporter under the control of a promoter containing multiple AhR binding XRE sites. Candidate AhR ligands were incubated with the reporter cell lines, and luciferase activity was measured by colorimetric assay. (B) Splenocytes from WT and AhR^d mice, injected with DIM (50 μg) i.p. or vehicle control 48 h earlier, were stimulated ex vivo with plate-bound anti-NK1.1 antibody, stained for intracellular IFN-γ, and analyzed by FACS.
