A. Cell migration rates of pancreatic cancer cells treated with IL-6 (100 ng/mL) or vehicle only were compared via wound healing assays. Microscopic observations were recorded at 48 hours after scratching the surface of a confluent layer of cells. Asterisk indicates the wound was completely healed. B. The invasive capacity of pancreatic cancer cells treated with IL-6 (100 ng/mL) or vehicle only were compared using Matrigel invasion assays. The numbers of cells that traveled through the membrane were counted in 10 fields under a ×20 objective lens. Original magnification, ×200. The results represent the means ± SD of values obtained in three independent experiments. Statistical significance was calculated using the Student’s t-test.
