Figure 3

The analysis of cell cycle under cordycepin and/or cisplatin influence in HNSCC cell lines.

Notes: The histogram plots of flow cytometry analysis in three oral cavity cancer cells ([A] OC3; [B] OEC-M1; and [C] FaDu) treated in plain medium, medium with DMSO (0.5%), medium with 100 μM cordycepin, medium with 300 μM cisplatin, medium with 600 μM cisplatin, medium with 100 μM cordycepin plus 300 μM cisplatin, and medium with 100 μM cordycepin plus 600 μM cisplatin for 24 hours were illustrated. After the treatments, cells were fixed, stained with propidium iodide, and analyzed for cell cycle progression by flow cytometry. The subG1 phase refers to cells that have less DNA content than normal cells, indicating apoptosis. Experiments were performed three times with similar results (Control represents control as plain medium). Arrow heads indicate the increase of the subg1 phase.

Abbreviations: DMSO, dimethyltetrazolium bromide; HNSCC, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma; DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid.
