(a) Oil-water separation by the (silicate/TiO2)*20 coated mesh. The mesh was pre-wetted by water and fixed between two glass tubes as the separation membrane. A mixture of gasoline and water was poured into the upper glass tube. The water passed through the membrane, whereas the gasoline remained on top of the membrane in the upper glass tube (right panel). (b) Photograph shows collected water and gasoline after the separation. No visible oil and water was observed in the collected water and oil, respectively, indicating a complete separation.
