Radiation-exposure biomarkers thymidine and citrate are not resolved under the conditions of Figure 3 although azelaic acid and n-hexanoylglycine are. Citric acid is shifted to more negative compensation voltage by alcohol gas-phase modifiers while thymidine is not (DMS-MS data, not shown), thereby allowing them to be resolved. Examples of modifier effects are shown in Figure 5.
