Uninfected and P. brasiliensis infected macrophages were used to characterize the expression of iNOS, ARG1, TGF-β, IL-12, TNF-α and IDO mRNA by quantitative Real-Time PCR. Total RNA was extracted using Trizol reagent, reverse transcribed, and cDNA amplified. Real-time PCR was performed using TaqMan universal master mix. Amplified products were normalized to the amount of GAPDH products from macrophages. All analyzes were done with five wells per condition in three independent experiments. The bars depict means ± SEM ** (P<0.01) and *** (P<0.001) compared with WT controls.
