Effect of Mg²⁺ ions on methylation activity of Rv2118p. Reactions (15 µl) containing 0.8 µg of Rv2118p, 40 µM [methyl-¹⁴C]AdoMet, ∼50 µM tRNA and varying amounts of MgCl₂ in R buffer (Materials and Methods) were incubated at 37°C. TCA-precipitable counts in 4.5 µl aliquots were determined for each time point.
