Inline graphic and Inline graphic show the profiles of the volume fractions of vessels and tumor cells, respectively. Early on, the concentration plots in (B) can be fitted with an exponential in agreement with experimental data as given in the legend. Each data point corresponds to the average over a small Inline graphic or Inline graphic-interval, where Inline graphic is the distance from vascularized regions similar to Inline graphic (see text). The error bars indicate the standard deviation of the ensemble.
