Effect of Group 1 mGluR activation on action potential generation in L5 prefrontal neurons. A, CPn and COM neurons were driven to fire action potentials in response to a series of depolarizing current injections (50–350 pA, 20 pA steps) from a common membrane potential (−65 mV) before and 30 min after a 10 min DHPG application. DHPG produced a statistically significant increase in the number of spikes to a given current injection in CPn (p < 0.001, RM-ANOVA), but not COM neurons (p = 0.11, RM-ANOVA *p < 0.003 (post hoc comparisons). B, Same experimental design as in A, except that cells were driven to fire action potentials from their RMP (p = 0.25, RM-ANOVA).
