c represents a significant increase at p<0.001 when compared to basal value at day 0 while d, e and f represent significant decreases at p<0.05, p<0.01 and p<0.001, respectively, when compared to Group II values on day 6 and a+ represents a significant increase at p<0.05 when compared to Group I and Group II values on day 0.

I = normoglycaemic rats + 10 ml/kg of 5% Tween 20 in distilled water; II = alloxan hyperglycaemic rats + 10 ml/kg of 5% Tween 20 in distilled water; III= alloxan hyperglycaemic rats + 1 mg/kg glibenclamide in 5% Tween 20 in distilled water
