Ultrasonography criteria for acute acalculous cholecystitis

Major criteria Minor criteria
• Gallbladder wall thickening ≥3mm
• Gallbladder distension (>5cm)
• Wall edema
• Echogenic bile (sludge)
• Intramural gas
 
• Mucosal sloughing
 
• Pericholecystic fluid
 
• Sonographic Murphy’s sign  

Two major or one major and two minor criteria are needed for diagnosis.
