Pigs (n = 7) were fed diets containing 15% fat and 35% refined sugars for 16 weeks (HED) and subsequently returned to a control diet (% fat) for 6 additional weeks (INT). At the end of each feeding period, pigs were fasted overnight and subsequently challenged with an oral bolus of 2 g glucose/kg BW. Blood samples were collected at indicated time intervals to determine plasma glucose (A) and insulin (C). Comparisons were made only within pigs tested at both time points.
