C. burnetii T4SS substrates interfere with yeast growth. S. cerevisiae W303 expressing C. burnetii T4SS substrates was serially diluted to an optical density at 600 nm (OD600) of 0.2 and spotted onto dropout media containing 2% glucose or 2% galactose. All strains exhibited similar growth characteristics under noninducing conditions, in the presence of glucose, but exhibited significantly diminished growth on galactose-containing media.
