Cultivation of P. aeruginosa strain PAO1 on PIAAMV results in attenuated acute virulence. Strain PAO1 was cultured for 18 h at 37°C on either PIA or PIAAMV, and 4 × 107 CFU were administered to BALB/c mice by the intranasal route. Kaplan-Meier survival curves of BALB/c mice challenged with P. aeruginosa indicate that PIAAMV causes defects in PAO1 acute virulence.
