Growth of the indicated G. oxydans strains on agar plates containing mannitol medium with 1.5% agar. The plates were incubated for 48 h or 72 h at 30°C. A preculture was grown in 20 ml of mannitol medium for 24 h. After adjusting the OD₆₀₀ of all precultures to 1, the suspension was diluted 10⁴- to 10⁷-fold in mannitol medium. Ten microliters of each dilution was dropped on the agar plates. Three biological replicates were performed with comparable results, and one representative experiment is shown here. ref, reference.
