Shown is the range of 6 degree of freedom tibiofemoral kinematic measures (mean ± 1 sd) seen during the flexion and extension phases of the motion cycles. Substantially reduced anterior tibia translation is seen when quadriceps loading coincides with a flexed posture (inertial case). Non-sagittal tibiofemoral rotations were substantially smaller and did not significantly vary between loading conditions.
