Overlays of contrast-specific CPS pixel intensity (greenscale) and traditional b-mode (greyscale) ultrasound scans of HUVEC samples incubated with targeted PCCAs. A) Prior to activation, no contrast-specific echogenicity is detected, suggesting PCCAs are still in the liquid state. B) After exposure to a mechanical index of 1.1 at 8 MHz, targeted droplets vaporize to the highly-echogenic gas state, resulting in a region of high pixel intensity along the cell-layer only.
