Effects of NOS inhibition delivered via microdialysis to the skin on the cutaneous vasodilator responses to whole body heating in humans. Microdialysis of atropine had little effect on this response even though local sweating was abolished. By contrast, NOS inhibition caused ~30% reduction in skin blood flow on the affected site. When whole body cooling began blood flow on both the treated and untreated sites fell dramatically. (Figure from ref. 4)
