Table 2.

d′ values (mean ± SEM) for 45 dph core and shell for TUT-responsive neurons

d′ comparison TUT-responsive 45 dph neurons
Core Shell
TUT–BOS 0.00 ± 0.06 0.26 ± 0.07**
TUT–REV 0.26 ± 0.07 0.48 ± 0.07*
TUT–CON 0.23 ± 0.09 0.63 ± 0.12**
TUT–AMC 0.16 ± 0.08 0.54 ± 0.12**

Core, n = 41 versus BOS and REV, n = 24 versus CON and AMC; shell, n = 37 versus BOS and REV, n = 19 versus CON and AMC.

*p < 0.05 and **p < 0.01 for significant differences between mean d′ values of core and shell. We used ΔSR scores in preference to d′ scores for methodological reasons (see Materials and Methods). However, both measures showed good agreement in terms of assessing differences in selectivity between shell and core neurons: TUT selectivity of shell neurons was higher than that in core neurons.
