NWMN2274 and NADPH can substitute for ascorbic acid as an electron source for heme degradation by IsdI or IsdG. UV-visible spectra of 10 μm IsdI-heme (left panels) or IsdG-heme (right panels) were obtained in the presence of 1 mm ascorbic acid (A and B) or 1 μm IruO and 200 μm NADPH (C and D). Spectra were recorded every 10 min for 90 min (A and B) or every minute for 10 min (C and D). Arrows indicate spectral changes over time, and red and blue lines indicate the first and last time points, respectively.
