Freshly isolated normal but not CGD CD14+ monocytes kill G. bethesdensis. (A) CD14+ monocytes from normal (n=9) and CGD (n=3) donors were incubated with G. bethesdensis at MOIs of 2, 1, and 0.5 bacteria per host cell in the presence of autologous serum for 24 hours. Data are represented as mean + SD. Linear regression analysis was conducted to assess differences in slope of lines (* = p ≤ 0.05) for normal versus CGD. (B) PMN and monocytes isolated from the same normal donors (n=8) were incubated with G. bethesdensis at an MOI of 1 bacteria per host cell in the presence of autologous serum for 24 hours.
