The expression level and activity of antioxidant enzymes determine the levels of intracellular ROS, which have been shown to impinge on the expression pattern of clock genes. In addition, some antioxidant enzymes have been shown to follow a circadian pattern of expression, suggesting that the clock system can regulate redox homeostasis.
