PGIS overexpression decreases bleomycin-induced apoptosis of pulmonary cells. PGIS OE⁺ mice and littermate control PGIS OE⁻ mice were intranasally administered 0.08 U of bleomycin at day 0. Mouse lungs were harvested at days 6 and 14. The lung sections of the paraffin-embedded tissue were subjected to terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP-mediated nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay with the DeadEnd Colorimetric Detection System. The TUNEL-positive cells in the lung section were counted and scored by a pathologist who was blinded to the groups. Representative TUNEL assay images are shown, and TUNEL⁺ cells were stained brown.
