In-solution modification by FUT-6 of chemically synthesized glycans. Alkylamine-modified glycans 1, 2, 8, and 10 (Hex_1–2HexNAc_2–4) were incubated with recombinant C. elegans FUT-6 and GDP-Fuc; the substrates and products were analyzed by MALDI-TOF MS (A–H) and MS/MS (I–L). The analyzed glycans were generally observed as [M + Na]⁺, except for unmodified compound 1, which was detected as [M + H]⁺; the transfer of fucose by FUT-6 is indicated by +Fuc, as shown by an increase in m/z of 146.
