Cell metabolomics consists of four sequential steps: (a) sample preparation and extraction, (b) metabolic profiles of low-weight metabolites based on MS or NMR spectroscopy techniques, (c) pattern recognition approaches and bioinformatic data analysis, (d) metabolites identification resulting in biomarkers and targets.
