Phenotype of idf1-1 and IDF1 Complemented Plants Grown in Alkaline Soil.
(A) Seeds of wild type (Wt) and idf1-1 were directly grown in soil (organic substrate, vermiculite, and mica at a ratio of 9:1:1) without (Soil) or with 3.9 g lime/kg soil (Lime) for 21 d with watering twice a week. Bar = 1 cm.
(B) Fresh weights of the wild type (idf1-1) and two complementation lines (idf1-IDF1-Flag-1 and -2) were measured. Data are means ± sd of four replicates with six seedlings each.
(C) Shoot Fe concentration was determined. Data are means ± sd of four replicates with 20 seedlings each.
(D) The seed yield per silique of soil grown plants. Data are means ± sd of four replicates with six siliques each. *P < 0.05 compared with the wild type under the same conditions.
