Plc1p and Ipk2p are required for expression of glucose transporters upon glucose induction. Wild-type, plc1Δ, ipk2Δ, ipk1Δ, kcs1Δ, and grr1Δ cells were grown in YP medium containing 2% galactose to an A₆₀₀ = 0.5 at 30 °C. The culture was split and either left untreated or adjusted to a final concentration of 0.2% or 4% glucose and grown for an additional 2 h. Total RNA was isolated and assayed for HXT1 (A), HXT3 (B), and HXT4 (C) transcripts by real-time RT-PCR. The results were normalized to ACT1 RNA and expressed relative to the value for the WT strain grown in 2% galactose. The experiment was repeated three times, and the results are shown as mean ± S.D.
