Pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (PMVECs) were incubated with normal (5.5 mM) or high (33 mM) D-glucose concentrations for 5 days, then with 10 μg/ml LPS for 12 h. The samples were prepared for scanning electron microscopy. NG, normal glucose; HG, high glucose; NG + LPS, normal glucose + LPS; HG + LPS, high glucose + LPS; LPS, lipopolysaccharide. Data are expressed as mean ± SD (n=5).
