Figure 2

Changes in mean arterial pressure, heart rate, muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA), and renal vascular resistance index in response to ischemic fatiguing rhythmic handgrip (IFRHG) and posthandgrip circulatory arrest (PHGCA). Subjects (n = 10) received infusions of normal sterile saline (NSS, black bars) and then ascorbic acid (Vit C, white bars) prior to exercise. On a separate day, subjects (n = 9) breathed 100% O2 throughout exercise and also received infusions of NSS (black dashed bars) and then Vit C (white dashed bars). Data are M ± SEM.
