Effect of RcTnT1–43Δ and RcTnT44–73Δ on ER in α- or β-MHC fibers. ER was measured at pCa 4.3 as described previously (Ford et al., 2010). ER represents the magnitude of the sudden stretch–mediated increase in the recruitment of additional force-bearing XBs (see the supplemental text for a detailed description). (A) ER in fibers containing α-MHC. (B) ER in fibers containing β-MHC. RcTnT1–43Δ decreased ER by ∼36% in α-MHC fibers, an effect that was counteracted in β-MHC fibers. Number of determinations was at least 10 for each group. Values are reported as mean ± SEM. **, P < 0.01.
