Comparison of the release of EPI in 50% human plasma from the HSPC/Chol/DSPE-PEG 2000 (5.5:4:0.5 mol/mol) liposomes into which it had been encapsulated using different ion and/or pH gradients: 300 mM ammonium ascorbate at pH 4.0 (♦), 300 mM ascorbic acid at pH 2.4 (O), 300 mM ammonium sulfate at ph 5.5 (▲), and 300 mM citrate buffer at pH 4.0 (■).

Abbreviations: EPI, epirubicin; HSPC/Chol/DSPE-PEG 2000, hydrogenated soy phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol/1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-phosphoethanolamine-N-(poly[ethylene glycol]2000).
