(AD) Comparison of cytotoxicity of EPI encapsulated in HSPC/Chol/DSPE-PEG 2000 (5.5:4:0.5 mol/mol) liposomes using an ascorbic acid gradient (EPI lip ascorbic acid pH 2.4), ammonium ascorbate gradient (EPI lip ascorbic acid pH 4.0) or ammonium sulfate gradient (EPI am sulfate) and that of free EPI (EPI free). The cytotoxicity was measured on MCF-7 cells after 48 (A) and 72 hours (B), and on 4T-1 cells after 48 (C) and 72 hours (D).

Abbreviations: EPI, epirubicin; HSPC/Chol/DSPE-PEG 2000, hydrogenated soy phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol/1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-phosphoethanolamine-N-(poly[ethylene glycol]2000).
