Assay of 5α-reductase inhibition was performed using crude extract of rat prostate as described in “Materials and Methods”. The conversion rate of testosterone (T) to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) was calculated by the equation [DHT/(T+DHT)]×100. Inhibition activity (%) was expressed as a percentage of reduced conversion rate compared to the control. The inhibition activity of control group was regarded as 0% (not shown).
