Distribution of tectoreticular axon terminals and reticuloraphe neurons in the cMRF following dual-tracer injections. a–c, Low-magnification drawings show the level of the higher-magnification chartings (source indicated by blue boxes). The BDA injection site in the SC is shown in d, and a–c show the WGA-HRP injection into the RIP. In the chartings (A–C), both BDA-labeled axon terminals (black stipple) and BDA-labeled neurons (black dots) are demonstrated to occur at high densities within the cMRF, with an ipsilateral predominance. WGA-HRP-labeled neurons (red diamonds) are present bilaterally in the cMRF and lie within the tectal termination zone.
