IGF2 as an example protein in which coordinated co-expression correctly predicts disease manifestation in brain and smooth muscle. IGF2 is a hub protein in a protein complex interacting with nine proteins (GPC3, IGFBP5, IGFALS, PLG, TF, INSR, IGFBP2, VTN and WISP2) as defined by the InWeb network. Pearson correlations between the hub protein IGF2 and its interactors are illustrated based on eight samples from smooth muscle tissue expression data under normal condition.
