(A) Mice with sham (N = 5) surgery experienced oxidative stress (DHE stains) only at three days post-surgery while mice with RAS (N = 10) surgery experienced increasing level of oxidative stress; (B) Plasma renin activity (as assessed by angiotensin I production) is elevated by three days post-surgery in mice with RAS and peak at 14 days post-surgery before returning to baseline level by 28 days post-surgery; (C) Renin (Ren1) expression was up regulated in the stenotic kidney of mice with RAS at all time-points; (D) Angiotensinogen (Agt) expression in the stenotic kidney of mice with RAS became significantly elevated at 28 days post-surgery.
